Notes
- This child's name looks like Rabie or Raby in all the censuses. It is found as Robie on one or two genealogies. In the Social Security Death Index the name is Rabie Brinkley. Several genealogies just copy names they have found from one or more censuses, including a mistranscription of the name of one of Rabie's brothers Elmer.
The following genealogy, still, provides some additional information that seems to come from family sources, like Rabie's middle name of Lee. This genealogy lacks Rabie's brother James Page Brinkley.

Rabie was born a few weeks before Indian Territory and Oklahoma Territory were merged with a few additional pieces of land to become the new US State of Oklahoma in December 1907. Genealogies report that the place of his birth was Walters, later to be in Cotton County, Oklahoma, formed in 1912 out of Comanche County.
This was part of the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache Reservation that was opened up for white settlement in 1906. this appears to be when James and Etta Brinkley moved up from Texas. Walters was on the Rock Island and Pacific Railway, which connected Waurika and Lawton. The following explains briefly the history of the area.
"In 1855 a Choctaw-Chickasaw agreement held that they would lease a part of their land, to the United States for the Wichita and other Plains tribes. After the 1867 Medicine Lodge Treaty the area became part of the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache reservation. Cotton County's eastern portion opened to non-Indian settlement in the 1901 Kiowa-Comanche-Apache Opening, which distributed land by a lottery system. In 1906 settlers claimed the remainder of the county's land when the Big Pasture, grazing land reserved for Kiowa-Comanche and Wichita-Caddo livestock (with many acres leased to white ranchers), became available through a sealed bid process. The federal government platted five townsites for the Big Pasture opening, Randlett, Eschiti, Ahpeatone, Quanah, and Isadore, with the latter two in present Tillman County. Randlett is the only original town still incorporated. Other incorporated Cotton County towns are Devol, Temple, and Walters."
