10/6/1918 Shawnee Soldier Dies From Wounds (Sunday)
Shawnee, Okla., Oct. 5 - Sergt. Alfred C. Bradley, son of Mr. & Mrs. J.E. Bradley of Shawnee, has died of wounds received in action on the French front, according to word just received from the war department. The wounds from which he died were sustained July 28.
Bradley was born March 28, 1892, in Texas. He enlisted in the regular army July 2, 1917, at Leon Springs, Texas, and was assigned to Battery E of the 21st field artillery.
Later, about July 1, this year, he was transferred to the Fifth field artillery and stationed at Camp McArthur, Waco, Texas. He left Waco May 13 with the first of twelve troop trains which started for a port of embarkation. He reached France in June and started for the front July 24 just four days before he sustained the wounds which caused his death.
