Name is spelled Elizabeth Amey in one genealogy. I have been told that Amy is the family name. -- Jim White, personal email, October 2007
I had found no more than a name and an estimated birth year for Anne Boling Mullins, plus the information on her marriage to my ancestor George Ross Mullins. But in December 2009, I got a contact from another genealogist descended from Ann who gave me some more details. In our message exchange, she provided the following details about Anne and her multiple marriages: She was the 2nd wife of my gggrandfather, William Boling. Her first husband was James Anderson, Murray Co, GA. Ann and William were married in Dec 1854. She married 1) James A Anderson, Murray Co, GA 7 Oct 1847; 2 children - Wm A 1849 and Margaret Elizabeth 1851. James died 1852/53. (Ann's maiden name was also Anderson) 2) Wm Boling 21 Dec 1854 Lumpkin Co, GA. Wm's wife, Mary, died in 1853. Wm had children still at home. Wm A Anderson, son of Ann, lived with the blended family, but I have found no evidence Margaret Elizabeth ever did. Wm & Ann had 6 children. Wm Boling died 1880/1881. 3) John Mullins in 1881. I don't know how long Ann lived. There is a tombstone at Hightower Bapt Ch Cemetery, Cherokee Co, GA - Ann Boling 1832-1895. She was born in 1832. Don't know if this is Ann Anderson Boling Mullins. 3 of her children are also buried there. Have not researched the Mullins marriage. -- "bolhal541," Ancestry.com message exchange with Orville Boyd Jenkins, 20-21 December 2009 I found what appears to be Ann with her husband William Boling and two children in the 1880 census. They are as expected in Cherokee County, Georgia, in the Cross Roads Township. There appears to be considerable uncertainty on the birth date for Hancy Arnold. Various sources in a short initial search produced three different dates, in a range of 24 years! The date of 1785 is most reasonable in reference to the known birth date of her husband, James Gaines, in 21 July 1783. The source that gives a birth date for her in 1766, however, is the only one that reports a place of birth, Virginia. I am using that state as place of birth, lacking any other at this point [28 March 2007]; that place seems reasonable. But I am using the date of 1785, from the Old Pendleton District Genealogy, as a birth date, which seems to fit the generational patterns. I expect there was an older Nancy Arnold, which the compiler of that One World Tree database confused with this Nancy Arnold, wife of Jmes Gaines.

In 1850 her age is reported as 9, and in 1860 she is 18. Both censuses are in September, so the way her age was reported or calculated was different. We get the exact birth date and other information from family sources. In July 2008, a descendant of Lydia, Dennis Comer, provided dates and places of Lydia's vital statistics where they were missing. Sarah Mullennix, in email correspondence in 2007, had provided the year of birth. Dennis Comer, in an email to Orville Boyd Jenkins, July 2008. provides exact dates on birth and death, and place of death. In 1890, we find Lydia recorded as Lydie O Mullennix. She appears in the Veteran's Schedule of the 1890 census, where she is recorded as a widow of veteran William Franklin Mullennix. The main census for most states and counties was destroyed by a fire, but the Veteran's Schedule is informative in some locations. This schedule does not tell us if Lydie had family members living with her, but we do learn where she was living. She is in Sidney, a town in Comanche County, Texas, where we know from family sources her husband William Franklin died in November 1888. 1890 Federal Census, Comanche County, Texas, Veterans Schedule, June, Justice Precinct 1, District 54, page 2, Sidney, Hse #358, Fam #363 Lydie O Mullennix, Widow of Veteran William F Mullennix, Home in 1890 Precinct 1, Sidney, Comanche, Texas, Enlisted 1863, 1st Arkansas Infantry, Discharged 1865, Rank: Private. We find that some time between the 1910 and 1920 census, her daughter Sarah and her husband John Shileds moved their famliy to Tacoma, Washington, where they appear inteh 1920 census. They are living in Ward 6 of the city of Tacoma, in Pierce County, Washington. That census gives us some middle initials of the children reported in 1910, as well as listing Sarah as Sarah M Shields.
