One source has two children of Nathaniel Edwin and Mary Ellen: Eddie, born Sep 1863 and Nathaniel Edwin Jr, with no birth information. It seemed obvious that these are two entries for the same person, one under the full name and one under the nickname. However, Eddie was listed as a female. Other family information coming to me through Jacque Watkins from descendants of Eddy also indicates that Eddie/Eddy was female. The name of Eddy's husband matches the husband of Eddie reported on the web site. In the 1880 census Eddie is reported in the household of Mary E and her second husband Jones Connally. There was some confusion in some transcriptions of the 1880 census, where Eddie was listed as a Step-son. But I read it as Step-dau, matching the report of Eddie as Female. (The high loop on the lower-case D probably read to some like an S.) In this census, 16-year-old Eddie matches the birth date of September 1863 for Eddie in the genealogy. 1880 Federal Census, McLennan County, Texas, 15 June, Page 33A (scan p166A), District 111, Hse/Fam #201 Connally, Jones W M 54 Farmer GA TN GA Connally, Mary E W F 36 Wife Keeping House GA SC GA Connally, Eddie W F 16 Step-Dau At Home GA GA GA Two genealogies report the children of Eddie and her husband Meredith Kendrick Edward E.
