Notes for Nancy HAMRICK

One or more sources had some confusing information, listing Nancy
Green, who appeared to be this Nancy Green, as married to David
Hamrick Green. It appears, however, that David Hamrick Green in
this source is the same person that several other sources list as
David Howell Green. Sources for David Howell Green, who is usually
listed in some sources as David H Green, were John Green and Judith
Moore McSwain.

The source for David Hamrick Green has him with the same parents as
the other sources show for the parents of David Howell Green. I am
considering that this source has misunderstood the middle name. All
the listings I can find in censuses or genealogies for David H
Green, match the information for David Howell Green.

The Genealogy Hamricks of Ireland and the Hamrick Data Pages tell us
she married George Washington McSwain (1855 - 1923).

Hamrick, Narcissus (*1864 - )

-- Hamrick Data Pages,

Narcissus lived to be 89 years old. Her death certificate gives her
name as Eliza Jane McSwain.

In the 1880 census, E J's mother E Hamrick is living in the
household, giving us E J's maiden name Hamrick.

E Hamrick W F 47 Mother-in-Law Widow NC NC NC [b abt 1833]

The Hamrick genealogy cited above tells us Narcissus was called
Eliza Jane, giving her name as Narcissus "Eliza Jane" Hamrick. This
matches the 1880 entry for E J McSwain. The 1900 census reprots
her, though, as Louisa J McSwain. Her mother is living in the
hosuehold in the last two censuses, designated as mother-in-law, so
we are sure EJ and Louisa are the same person. Some genealogies say
her nickname was Liza Jane. This may explain where the Louisa came
from. The enumerator might have heard Liza Jane as Louisa Jane.

The mother-in-law's full name is given here, Emeline. This is
sufficient a clue to enable us to confirm that Louisa/Narcissus/EJ
is the daughter of Elijah Hamrick and Emeline Webb.

Notes for Othro Bruno HAMRICK

I have found no documentation of Bruno's first name. Official
records always refer to him only as Bruno Hamrick, except for the
1910 census where he is Ortho B. Even his WWI draft card and his
death certificate have only Bruno Hamrick. Various genealogies have
his first name as Orthro, Ortho, Othro or Otto. The most common is
Orthro. Amelia Hamrick says the spelilng in Bruno's mother's Bible
is Othro.

"The spelling of Bruno´s first (Othro) is in his mother´s family

In 1870, I found what appears to be the right Reuben (Reubin)
Hamrick, at age 84. But there is no wife in the home. Where is
Hannah? Family information and here gravestone indicate she did not
die until 1875.

Reuben has two gravestones, both flat stones. The newer stone
states that he was a charter member of the Boiling Springs Baptist
Church. The date of death on his gravestones is 26 October 1873.

Notes for Sarah HAMRICK

The wife of Joseph Green in the 1860 census is reported as Sarah, age
24, and thus born about 1836. This Sarah appears to be Sarah
Hamrick, born about 1836. I found this person in the Hamrick data
pages. There were many Sarah Hamricks, but this is the only Sarah
Hamrick in that source to match a birth in that year.

Note that Sarah has aged only 5 years since 1860. The children's
ages are as expected.

In the 1880 census, we find that Sarah Green is the head of the
household. This tells us that her husband Joseph G Green died after
the 1870 census. Her daughter Patience is married to George G
McSwain, but though they do not have a new family number, she is
listed as George's wife, rather than Sarah's daughter. Also in the
same household is a 26-year old James Green with his wife Eunicy L,
age 28. I have no previous information on James Green as a son or
Eunice as a daughter of Sarah and Joseph Green.
