The name is spelled in other references as Hordemon or Hordenon, the former of which is apprently meant in this record, "Louella Hordenon(?) I have added Louella to our db." -- Tina Vickery, email to Lynda Lewis, 11 March 2020 As part of an extensive review of the Christian-Forsyth famliy gorup, it was found there was no memorial for Louella on Find a Grave, so we creatd one. ---------------- Louella Hardeman Forsyth Allen Birth 15 Jan 1892 Bowie County, Texas, USA Death 8 Jan 1943 (aged 50) Bowie County, Texas, USA Burial Cedar Creek Cemetery, Red River County, Texas, USA Louella's burial was handled by J R Robertson, Omaha, Morris County, Texas. Morris County is contiguous to Red River County to the northwest, where the cemetery is located, Bowie County to the north, Cass County to the east and Titus County to the west. Morris is a small, narrow county. There are records for this Forsyth family in all four of these counties. The cemetery is in Red River on the county line of Red River and Bowie Counties. Dalby Springs, Bowie County, where their farm was located, is close to the Bowie-Red River county line. The name for this cemetery in Find a Grave is Cedar Creek Cemetery, but FAG notes that it is also called Old Cedar Cemetery. But this seems also to be the cemetery referred to as Cedar Grove. We are told it has been abandoned for some time. Granville & Patricia Murphy say it used to be called Pleasant Grove Cemetery. On FAG there is a photo of a sign for Old Cedar Cemetery. Thanks to Forsyth descendant and researcher Lynda Lewis, the burial reported in the death certificate was added to the cemetery list as acknowledged in the message below to Lynda. "Cedar Creek Cemetery also known as Old Cedar Cemetery is in Red River County. I have added Louella to our db." -- Tina Vickery, email to Lynda Lewis, 11 March 2020 On her death certificate, Louella's middle name appears to be written Hordenon. But on the certificate, the Os and As look similar. Ancestry.com transcribes the name as Hordenm, which makes no sense. For the typed Texas Death Index, the name from her death certificate was transcribed as Louella Hardenn, which is likewise meaningless. The name is spelled in other references as what looks like Hordemon or Hordenon, the former of which is apparently meant in this record The name is taken in some sources to be Hardeman, and this is the most common spelling of this surname (ref the Texas county of Hardeman a bit farther west along the Red River) and Louella had a brother with this name, which the family spelled Hardiman. Working with Lynda Lewis, a Forsyth researcher, and Granville Murrphy, a Red River County researcher, I submitted extensive suggestions for the links to memorials for family and spouses of these Forsyth lineage individuals. As relationship links to family members' burials began to be approved iit became appareent that there were two FAG memorials for our Lucy Forsyth. A memorial with a grave photo appears under her married name of Lucy Pitts. Both these memorials were originally established by Granville & Patricia Murphy, but they are both now managed by Lawrence and Sue Dale. Previously lacking the parent and family links which we added in March 2020, the duplication had not been recognized, even by the creators or managers of the two memorials. These two memorials are for the same person. The Find a Grave memorial of William B Barnette reports his parents as John Barnette and Emily Caroline Foster. But in the 1910 census, William and his wife Ida were enumerated with their children in Polk County, North Carolina. In their household was his mother, named Marget (Margaret). Should the enumerator have reported Margaret as the Stepmother? At that point in life, they probably did not make that distinction in reporting the relationship. 1910 Federal Census, Polk County, North Carolina, 3 May, Columbus Township, District 119, Page 8B, Landrum Rd, Hse #150, Fam #157 Barnette, William B Head M W 37 Married 19 yrs NC NC NC Farmer Rents [b abt 1863] Barnette, Ida Wife F W 37 Married 19 yrs 9 Children/9 living NC TN NC [b abt 1863] Barnette, Jessie [sic] Son M W 18 Single NC NC NC Farm Laborer [b abt 1892] Barnette, George W Son M W 16 Single NC NC NC Farm Laborer [b abt 1894] Barnette, Joe C Son M W 14 Single NC NC NC Farm Laborer [b abt 1896] Barnette, Lindsey Son M W 12 Single NC NC NC Farm Laborer [b abt 1898] Barnette, Myrtle Dau F W 10 Single NC NC NC No Occupation [b abt 1900] Barnette, Mary Dau F W 8 Single NC NC NC No Occupation [b abt 1902] Barnette, Alice Dau F W 4 Single NC NC NC No Occupation [b abt 1906] Barnette, Willie Jr Son M W 3 Single NC NC NC No Occupation [b abt 1907] Barnette, Margret L Mother F W 63 Widow 4 Children/3 living NC NC NC No Occupation [b abt 1847] Emily and her busband William Beach were enumerated across the border from Polk County in Campobello Townhisp of Spartanburg County, South Carolina. 1900 Federal Census, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, 9 June, Campobello Township, District 83, page 21A, Hse #365, Fam #367 Beach, William Head W M July 1851 48 Married 22 yrs PA OA NY Farmer Owns Beach, Emily Wife W F Aug 1853 46 Married 22 yrs 8 children/8 living NC NC NC Beach, Edward Son W M April 1880 20 NC PA NC Farm Laborer Beach, Bessie Dau W F Sept 1883 16 NC PA NC At School Beach, Carrie Dau W F July 1885 14 NC PA NC At School Beach, Lillie Dau W F Jan 1888 12 NC PA NC At School Beach, Walter Son W M June 1890 9 NC PA NC Beach, Lindsay Son W M Sept 1892 7 NC PA NC Beach, Herbert Son W M Mar 1895 5 NC PA NC Jackson, William A Son-in-law W M Nov 1893 26 SC SC SC Jackson, Mattie Dau W F Dec 1881 18 NC PA NC I have not been able to reconcile all the dates and relationship sequences. John Barnette died before 1910 and was survived by his wife Margaret who died before 1920. But Emily Foster Barnett Beach lived until 1938. And her husband was William Beach until he died in 1930. He died in 1930. William B Barnett is reported in Emily's obituary as one of the sons surviving her. Was Emily married to John Barnett before he married Margaret and then John and Emily divorced. Maybe, but that was quite unusual for that era. Another possibility also stretches credulity. But William was born in 1872. And Emily was born about 1856, To be William's birth mother, she would have had to have William when she was bout 16, and married at about age 15. That is possible, but how likely? Genealogies list a large number of Beach children, ranging in birth dates from 1880 to 1895 (three with unreported birth dates). Assuming this is the total list, Emily married William Beach about 1880. Her age then would be about age 18, a common age of marriage. Several genealogies report only William Beach as her husband. But her obituary reports William Barnett as one surviving son. William is the only child reported for Emily who is surnamed Barnett. The date of birth on their daughter Mattie's grave is 1879, though some genealogies report her birth in 1881. Genealogy lists of her children report 1st child was Edward, b 1879, then Bessie in 1880, then Mattie. So she must have married William Beach about 1878.
