In the 1870 census, we find her married to William DeBalt, age 32, from Missouri. Three of her Dumond children are with her: Sarah, Edward Caliste and Solomon Lewis. 1870 Federal Census, Arkansas County, Arkansas, 9 July, Cypress Bayou Township, PO Arkansas Post, page 7, Hse/Fam #59 DeBalt [DeBolt?] William 32 M W Farmer $400 Real Estate $400 Personal born Missouri cannot read or write DeBalt [DeBolt?] Sarah M 31 F W Keeping House born Tennessee cannot read or write Dumond Sarah 17 F W Arkansas Calista Edward [sic] 11 M W Arkansas Lewis Solomon [sic] 9 M W Arkansas DeBalt [DeBolt?] Mary A 2 M [sic] W Arkansas The names are written as I have given them here, with no comma separating last name from the first. The middle name of Caliste and Solomon is written as though it was their last name. It looks like he did not understand that all three of these children were surnamed Dumond, and being told "Sarah Dumond," he wrote Dumond as the last name, but hearing both given names of the boys, he wrote the second name as though that was the surname. I can envision the conversation; Enumerator: And what is the oldest child's name? Sarah: She is Sarah Dumond. Her father died. E: and the next oldest? S: Edward Caliste E: Age (etc) E: and the next? S: Solomon Lewis E: Age (etc) E: And next? S: Mary A DeBalt. She is our first since I married William. Note that Mary is listed as Male! I have seen this error in some other cases. This listing of Caliste here (though as Calista, which is actually close to the way the French pronounced it) also indicates his parents had continued to use the French spelling. But his children likely changed it, or it was remembered and spelled Collise in retrospect from their English pronunciation. I have found no public records spelling it that way. The family name also changed, as we see from the census entries and genealogies, from Dumont (or Du Mont) to Dumond (or Du Mond) in the generation of Caliste's and Sarah's children. We find it on occasion as Dumonde, in an attempt to make it fit a French word/name form.

D B Haines appears to have died before the 1860 census. His only daughter Mary is found in the household of her grandmother Felicita (Félicité) Dumond, at age 12. D B's wife Mannett Dumont/Dumond died in 1849, according to one genealogy, by Patrick Noonan. In the 1840 census, a Haines family, headed by B D Haines, is found two doors down from Félicité's family (listed under the name of her eldest son still at home, Lewis Dumont). It seems likely that the D B Haines that Félicité's daughter Mannett married was a son of that B D Haines. 1840 Federal Census, Arkansas County, Arkansas, Arkansas Township, p 2 B D Haines 1 Male 5-10 1 Male 15-20 1 Male 20-30 1 Male 30-40 1 Female 40-50 Arkansas Marriages to 1850 Dumond, Manett Spouse Hains, D. B. Marriage 2 Oct 1845 Arkansas Post, Arkansas County The only D B Haines I have found in the 1850 census in Arkansas Post, Arkansas County, Arkansas, is age 35 with a wife named Frances, also 35 [b abt 1815]. The older children in tn their household is are named Stillwell, indicating Frances was previously married to a Stillwell. One child named Haines is reported, Mary F Haines, age 3. This appears to be the Mary Haines that genealogies report as the child of D B Haines and Manet Dumond. If Manett Dumond Haines died, as reported by some genealogies, about 1849, this would fit that scenario. Mary Haines here would be, as also reported in the genealogies, the daughter of Manett, who died in childbirth or in the next few months. After her death, D B married widow Frances Stillwell. 1850 Federal Census, Arkansas County, Arkansas, 10 October, Arkansas Township, p 4A, Hse/Fam #51 D B Hains 35 M Farmer $600 Real Estate b Ohio [born abt 1815] Elizabeth Hains 35 Georgia [born abt 1815] Eliza Stillwell 12 M Arkansas [born abt 1838] Albert Stillwell 10 M b Arkansas [born abt 1840] Mary Stillwell 8 M Arkansas [born abt 1842] James Stillwell 6 M b Arkansas [born abt 1844] Asher Stillwell 4 M b Arkansas [born abt 1846] Mary F Hains 3 M Arkansas [born abt 1847] In 1860 Mary was enumerated as a 12-year-old in the household of Felicité Caillot Dumond, Mary's grandmother, the mother of her mother Mannet Dumond.

"Another name in the will [of Drury Christian] jumped out at me: Joel T. Haley, related somehow to Margaret Connally Jones, married Thomas Jones's daughter Frances. Their great niece Lucy Cline wrote a stunning description (in RootsWeb entry for Russell T. Pansy raised their child as her own." -- Suzy Crews, Ancestry Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 15 Sep 2011 In the census record above, Ara Bell's birthday is reported as Dec 1880. Tom's first wife died in 1876. He did not marry Pansey's mother Rachel Gurley until about 1879. If they married in early 1880, Arra could have been her first child, born in Dec 1880. But this would make her Pansey's full sister, not half-sister. I was unable to find any Hall family genealogies with any daughter named Ara/Arra Bell or similar, as the daughter of either of Thomas' wives. Ara Bell was born, grew up and married between the 1880 and 1900 censuses. Suzy Crews is a descendant of Pansey who has collected good evidence on this family and put up memorials for many of them on Find a Grave. Suzy says on Find a Grave that James' first wife Judith (Judy, Judea, Juda) died before 1879. Others give the date as 1876. And in the 1880 census, Rachel is already James´ wife and there is no Arra in the household yet. Finally Arra's birth date appears to be Dec 1880 (from 1900 census). I have not found Arra's birth record yet. Suzy confirmed with one of her aunts that Rachel was Arra Bell's mother. "Ara Belle Hall Edmonds is a full sister to my grandmother Pansy Mae Hall Edmonds. I finally spoke to one of my aunts, Pansy's youngest living daughter, today and she confirmed that Ara and Pansy are full sisters." -- Suzy Crews, Facebook Message to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 29 March 2014 There is another Ara B Hall enumerated in the 1900 census as the daughter of James B Hall, still in James' household in Notla Township of Cherokee County, North Carolina. This Arra B Hall is reported as born in May 1886.
