Hair (Hare)." -- Grand Prairie Historical Society Bulletin, October 1980 In the 1960 census, about a month after they were married, W D and Teresa were enumerated still in their separate households. W D Hare is listed with his son, also W D Hare, in one household with a Johnson family, while Teresa (Therecia) is in the next house but with the name Hare, with her two Dumond chidlren. This is because they married less than a month before the census, and apparently have not yet figured out how to combine their families and dwellings. The enumerator also erred, reporting the same age for W D and his son, as 27 years old! The folloiwng record in the 1870 census appears to be for Nancy Elizabeth Hargis. She adn her siblings are without their parents, in the household headed by Delila Graddick, who is likely their maternal grandmother. I have not discovered sufficient family details to confirm this. I have found a couple of families in the 1860 census that might be the correct ones, but children's names do not match enough to confirm the parents. 1870 Federal Census, Bradley County, Arkansas, 18 June, Pennington Township, P O Warren, page 25 (scan 563), Hse #168, Fam #165 Graddick, Delila 58 FW Keeping House $220 Real Estate $350 Personal b Tenn [b abt 1812] Hargis, Jane 26 F W born Ark [b abt 1844] Hargis, Nancy 23 F W born Ark [b abt 1847] Hargis, William 18 M W born Ark [b abt 1852] Hargis, James 11 M W born Ark [b abt 1859] Arkansas, County Marriages Index, 1837-1957 Robert L Kinard Age 28, Birth Year abt 1848 Spouse Elizabeth Hargis Spouse's Gender Female Spouse's Age 26 Marriage 21 Dec 1876 Bradley County Marriage License Date 19 Dec 1876 1880 Federal Census, Bradley County, Arkansas, 24 June, Pennington Township, P O Warren, District 15, page 42 (scan 22C), Hse #352, Fam #430 Kinard, Robt W M 31 Head Farmer TN NC TN [b abt 1849] Kinard, Elizabeth W F 32 Wife Keeping House TN TN TN [abt 1848] Kinard, Jas [John] W W M 2 Son Cannot read or write AR GA TN [b abt 1878] Kinard, Hettie M W F 11Mos Dau Cannot read or write AR GA TN [b abt 1879] The grave in the Kinard-Hargis Cemetery in the name of Nansie E Hargis appears to be Elizabeth's grave. The name reads: "Nansie E Hargis, wife odf R L Kinard, born [obscured on stone]." This would seem to make her full name Nancy Elizabeth Hargis. In various sources, the standard spelling of Nancy is used, rather than the non-standard spelling found on her gravestone. The memorial on Find a Grave has mistranscribed her name from the stone as Nansue W Hargis. But on the posted photo of the stone, the name is easily readable as Nansie E Hargis. The engraved name is in all caps. The letter between the S and the E is definitely I; there is only one stem and the I is clearly visible in the photo provided. The following initial is clearly readable as an E, having the same form as the final E on NANSIE. The initials N E are confirmed in her son's gravestone. The inscription on the gravestone of John W Kinard (1886-1891) reads: "Son of RL & NE Kinard." Nansie E Hargis Kinard Birth unknown Death unknown Wife of R. L.
