Nannie is also a nickname. Some genealogies have her name as Mary WIlson Evans, with no explanation of where the Evans name comes from, and with no husband named Evans. She died early, compared to her husband, and no indication has been found of an earlier husband before she married Thomas Calvin Hill in her home county, Overton County, Tennessee. Mary's birth date is always reported as the year 1815, but her first child is reported by genealogies and FAG as John Calvin Hill, born in 1829. In 1829, Mary would have been only about 14, so she would have married at about age 13. Is that likley? Was Thomas married previously to ta wife that was John's mother? The next child reported in Elizabeth, born in 1835, when Mary would have been about 20 years old. Elizabeth was perhaps Mary's first child, placing their marriage in about 1834, when she would be about 19. On Find a Grave memorials, the first child found with a memorial is Andrew Burton Hill, born in 1839. Mary would have been about 24 when Andrew was born in 1839.
