George married Sally Smithwick and they had one child; Oma Jeanette. Sally
Smithwick died and George married Ruth Hickenbottom. I think George died
around 1905 and supposedly he and all four wives are buried in the Hartman,

In the 1880 census, Rachel and George are reported living in the same area as
her father and his current wife Celia. Her son John Hughes oddly reports John
born in Kentucky. No other record supports it, but perhaps they went to
Kentucky, where Rachel was born, for a short time.

No death or burial information has been found on Rachel's husband John Hughes.
We just know that Rachel married Geo Yandell in 1878 in Johnson Co AR, where
they had all been living before. They are near her father and his wife Celia.

There is no burial information on Find a Grave for anyone named Yandle in
Johnson County or anywhere in Arkansas. There are some Yandells, but none
named George but thos born 1880 or later, and none named Rachel.

The exact birth date on a grave in Hartman Cemetery, Johnson County, Arkansas,
matches the general year of birth for Mary Terry Hughes. This memorial was
found before additional information on Mary's later years was found, as the
later censuses above.

Nothing has been found on any marriage to a Washborn, and no memorial or
published grave information has been found for a Washborn in Johnson County.
Is this just an eerie coincidence of a Rachel Hughes who married a Washborn.
Amd why is the birth date exactly the same on both?

-- Find A Grave Memorial #52348787,

What makes this more eerie is another memorial on Find a Grave with the exact
same birth date for a Mary Hughes (not Washborn) in the same cemetery. It has
the same date of death, but a different year. The dates here may not be the
actual dates on the grave marker, since no photo is attached to this memorial.
The one for Mary Hughes Washborn does have a photo, which clearly reads as the
dates on the above memorial. So we can be certain the above dates are correct
for the referenced grave.

These two memorials appeared to be for the same individual. But though she
has not been definitely identified, it seems the one above was for a Rachel
Hughes born about the same time as our Rachel Terry, and this memorial above
and burial are for her, not Mary Terry Hughes. The later censuses leave no
room for Mary Terry Hughes to have married anyone named Washborn, since she
married George W Yandell in 1878, and is enumerated with him in 1880, then
children of that marriage are reported in the 1900 census born up to December
1894.

George is a widow with these children in 1900, and Mary's death year of 1895
matches the birth of the last child in December 1895. Why the exact same
birth date occurs on this grave memorial is suspicious, as well as the exact
same day of death 5 years later. But another question is why in the following
memorial our Rachel Terry Hughes Yandell would have the name on her grave as
Rachel Hughes, from her first marriage.

-- Find A Grave Memorial #31422501,
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=31422501&ref=acom

There is another piece of the puzzle that adds another consideration into the
picture. If the grave for Mary Terry Hughes Yandell is the one wiht the death
date of 1890, this would fit withe another marriage record found reproting
that G w Yandell married one Mary Bunker in May 1890. The date of death 1895
may be for this wife, Mary Bunker in the marriage record, whom George married
on 18 May 1890.

But this still does not explain where the name Washborn came from on the grave
with death year 1890, nor why the name on the other grave memorial (with no
grave photo) has the last name as Hughes instead of Yandell. And no death
record has been found in either name to match either of the names or dates.

Notes for Rama Allen TERRY

The relationship of Roger Tripp to other members of Beatrice Weast Terry's
family was initially puzzling. In the obituary of Kenneth Paul Terry, he is
listed as a brother, but with another name in parentheses (Rama Allen Terry).
The latter name indicates he was the son of Rama Wall Terry, Kenneth's father
and their mother Beatrice's first husband. Records and information under the
two names overlap. It appeared that at some point Rama Allen Terry changed
his name to Roger Tripp.

Under the name Roger Trip, I found similar family names as originally appeared
in his brother Kenneth's obituary. Rama/Roger died a few weeks before his
brother Kenneth Terry. In Roger's obituary, an additional brother and sister
are reported, Shaney Matthews and Alan Tripp. No reference is made to a
father named Tripp and Merle Lebbs, his mother's last husband, is reported as
his father.

"I can tie Roger L. Tripp in Phoenix in the Phoenix 1951 city directory to
Arnold L. [Tripp] and Gladys Ione Sorter, who had a son Alan Lester Tripp on
May 18, 1938 in Phoenix. Maybe Arnold and Gladys took in Rama W. Terry and
adopted him after the Terrys divorced and changed his name to Roger Lee
Tripp."
-- Linda Vixie, Ancestry Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 14 January 2015

Linda Vixie, another Terry-Tripp researcher, was helpful in turning up details
and records related to this. It turns out that Rama Allen Terry was at some
point adopted by Arnold Laban Tripp and his second wife Gladys Ione Sorter.
Arnold and Gladys married about 1934 or a little earlier. In the 1930 census,
Arnold was still with his first wife Irene Brotherton in Los Angeles.

But the 1940 census records Gladys as Arnold's wife in Phoenix and reports
that in 1935 Arnold and Gladys were together in the same location. So they
were married some time after the 1930 census before 1935. In 1935, Rama Allen
Terry would have been about 4 years old.

No divorce record has been found for Arnold and Irene.

Rama/Roger's parents were enumerated in Phoenix, Arizona, for the 1940 census,
with Roger's two older brothers in the home.

Rama Allen Terry was born 17 April 1931. All the records on him and his
family in that period of time are in Phoenix, Arizona, so it is assumed he was
born in Phoenix. No birth record has been found, however. One genealogy
reports he was born in Rama's hometown of Marlow, Oklahoma, but provides no
documentation. This is not likely, since Rama and Beatrice are l;living in
Phoenix a few months before Roger's birth and afterwards, and have not been
documented away from that area in the 1930s.

Other surname brothers appear in Kenneth's obituary also, Thomas Terranova and
Daniel Wood. Linda Vixie, working with me on this branch of my family, was
able to make contact with some members of the family, one of whom clarified
that these children were adopted out like Roger Tripp after Berniece and Rama
divorced. Beatrice was buried in a double grave with her second husband Merle
Lebbs. I have found records for Beatrice and Merle Lebbs, also mentioned in
Kenneth's and Roger's obituaries.

Kenneth Paul Terry of Farmington passed away Dec. 11, 2010.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, Martin Paul Terry; his father, Rama
Terry; his mother, Beatrice Lebbs;
his brothers, Bill Terry Sr., Roger Tripp (Rama Allen Terry) and Daniel Wood;
and nephews, Michael Terry and the Rev. Bill Terry Jr.

Only 5 months later, Roger married Barbara Cleburn Sullivan. This is strange,
since Colorado at that time had a 6 month waiting period for a divorce to
become valid.

"I wonder what happened between Roger and Roxana. The court record office
claimed not to find a divorce file, and Colorado did have then a sixth-month
waiting period after a divorce was declared in court for it to be finalized.
But maybe an annulment would be recorded somewhere else?"

There is a marriage license on file for Barbara Tripp dated 14 May 1960. But
it does not appear to have been executed. The ceremony part of it is still
empty. This document authorizes the marriage of Barbara Togna Lorene Tripp to
Julius Nemeth, both of Barberton, Ohio. They both give the same residence
address, indicating they were already living together. This document reports
that Barbara has been divorced twice. We would expect the most recent of
those to be a divorce from Roger Tripp, since that is her last married name.
However, we have a report from her daughter that she had been married twice
before marrying Roger.

Barbara's previous names of Togna and Lorene would also appear to be married
names, since her maiden name was Cleburn. This may indicate that the document
is wrong in stating that she was twice divorced. This is also indicated in
the alternative name given with the index for this record, Barbara Cleburn.

In May 1959, Roger married Ida Crowder. No divorce record has been found for
Roger's marriage to either Roxanna or Barbara. Roger and his wife Ida Crowder
were mentioned as survivors in his mother's obituary in 1995. They were
living in Phoenix, Arizona, at that time.

"Beatrice A. Lebbs, 83, of Krebs, died Saturday [11 March 1995] at a local
nursing home.... Survivors include her husband, Merle, of the home; three sons
and daughters-in-law, Bill Sr. and Helen Terry of Beatty, Nev., Kenneth and

After finding the Braun genealogy in June or July 2014, I began to find other
genealogies coming online in search indexes with these same details and other
information on missing pieces in this family. In the meantime I had found
more details about Rama along the way, that indicated his migration to the
west, then to Alaska. He appeared in the Phoenix City Directory in 1936.

Consistent with this there is also a record of marriage for Rama and Beatrice.
But this is dated 1936 also, despite the fact that the 1930 census report Rama
as the son-in-law of the head of household and Beatrice as daughter. They had
5 children before 1936, starting with the two reported in the 1930 census,

Research has not turned up birth records or other details on some of the other
siblings named in Kenneth Terry and Roger Tripp's obituaries. A family source
has indicated, however, that two brothers reported as Thomas Terranova and
Daniel Wood were full siblings who were also adopted out like Roger, after the
divorce of Rama and Beatrice. More research is underway to discover more
details.

A marriage record in Prescott, Arizona, reports that Rama married Inez L

However, this marriage record was a few months before the census date in 1940,
when he was enumerated alone but married in the Los Angeles hotel. Perhaps he
was arranging for housing while working before his new wife joined him
Meanwhile no further word about Beatrice. And I have found no further
information or reference to Inez.

According to the 1940 census, Rama moved to Arizona before 1935. In the 1940
census, he is living in Los Angeles, California, and is reported as having
lived in Maricopa County (Phoenix area) in 1935 (matching the City Directory
listing above). He is living in a hotel without a wife, but listed as
married. He may have been in Los Angeles with his wife, but only the head of
household renting the room was reported. No later record of residence for
Rama and Inez has been found, nor any later record of Inez at all.

By 1943, Rama has another new wife. There is a City Directory record in San

------------------------------
I have a baptism record in San Francisco in 1951 for me with my fathers name
Rama Terry and my mother Jeanne Aurora Terry. The only problem is that I was
adopted, so my birth certificate shows Rama and Jeanne as my godparents and my
adopted parents as my parents.

The fact was never hidden from me that I was adopted, but nobody would talk of
my father, not even my mother “Jeanne.” I met her when I was 20, and went
to live with her for a time, but she would only make reference to him ever so
often. I knew I had two ½ brothers: Kenneth Paul and Billy Jack.

I was born on my brothers Kenneth Paul’s birthday Feb. 10th, but never met
them. That there was an aunt Quida, then I found an old photo of my mom taken
in Oklahoma in 1951 (you see the car license plates, but she couldn’t tell
me about I found it after she died.) I was born in Seattle Washington in 1949
and my mother mentioned one time that we lived in Seattle, Queen Hill.

My mother has since died in 2005 but stayed with the last name “Terry.”

They may have divorced before long, or Lottie died. The Clark-Gibbens
genealogy reports that Rama married Ruth Elizabeth Hopkins in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
24 Apr 1961. I have not seen documentation or any other reference to this or
Rama's presence in Okla at this stage. He must have gone back to Oklahoma to
marry her.I have found no other reference or records of a marriage date. This
seems odd, since they were both already out west. She was born in Utah, and
he had been living in Phoenix or Los Angeles since before 1935.

Listed with the same plot number is Rama's wife, Ruth E. When entering the
Find-a-Grave information in 2014, at that time I had not found any marriage
record or reference in any genealogy to either of these possible wives. In
July 2014, I found the Clark-Gibbens genealogy that had very full information
on the Terry Wall family, with a full name for Rama's last wife Ruth Elizabeth
Hopkins. There was no documentation or discussion about Ruth and no reference
to any Inez from the Arizona marriage record above. The actual marriage
record was found on FamilySearch's ever-expanding record library, on 22 May
2017.

Cemetery records have only the month and year of Rama's death, even the
memorial on Find a Grave. But I found Rama's date of burial on an online
burial register for Evergreen Cemetery, which has no date of birth or death.
We know his birth date of 10 July 1904 from his sister, Julia Virginia Terry
Jenkins, grandmother of this genealogist..

The Evergreen Cemetery was begun to replace the original Chicken Ridge
Cemetery before the end of the 1800s, when that cemetery was staked as a gold
mining claim. Evergreen is in the middle of town, and is said to be haunted.

"The cemetery served as Juneau's main place of burial until about the 1970s
when it reached near-capacity and Alaskan Memorial Park was established. What
Makes It Strange? Multiple spirits are said to haunt the cemetery, most of
which are thought to be the ghosts of those whose remains were transferred
here from Chicken Ridge. One ghost in particular is that of a young boy
dressed in late 1800s-era clothing who is often seen near the cemetery
entrance, looking at gravestones. Some say that he is looking for the graves
of his family. Visitors also report seeing shadowy figures, and hearing
disembodied voices and strange noises."

There is another Bobby Ray Terry who is the son of Orville Terry and Verna

But no Bobby Ray appears in their 1930 census.

"I believe several [Terry family members] got into boilermaker work including
my dad and Bobby. Bobby was killed when a rock hit him under his hard hat
(back of his neck) during his lunch break. The rock was dislodged from the
hill above him when someone was working with equipment up there."
