They were enumerated together in the 1880 census, then in 1900 Sarah is again a widow.
In 1880, it looks like the one Stroud child, Ema (Emma) is the same child named Sarah Stroud in the 1870 census. She was reported as 9 years old in 1870, and Ema is 20 in 1880. She is the only Stroud child in the new Simmons blended household, matching Sarah Stroud's status as the youngest child in her widowed mother's 1870 household.
