- Dawn was reported under the name Jackie in an article annoucing the death of her and her parents in a car crash in 1973. She was 3 years old when she was killed in the accident. The article reproted the death of Stehen and Jackie Spann and "their daughtre Jackie."
Her parents were buried in Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster, Los Angeles County, California, but no burial or even a California Death record was found for any for Jacke Spann born in about 1970.
"The dead-all riding in one of the cars-were identified as Stephen Byron Spann, 21, his wife, Jackie Dee, 21, and their daughter Jackie, 3. Also killed was Shiela Lee Frazier, 20, Lancaster. Taken to Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center [Lancaster, Los Angeles County, California] in critical condition were [others in the accident] ..."

Only after the discovey of that death announcement was there found a second marriage record for Jackie Dee Rousey Spann. It had been thought that Rousey was her maiden name, but the new reord indicate that Jackie had been married earlier at age 16 to Archer Rousey. Jackie Spann's maiden name was Boyer. Jackie Boyer marrier Archer Rousey in 1968. She married Stephen Spann in 1971.
The discovery of her last name as Rousey led to her California birth and death records.

The article reporting the auto accident that killed all three reported that the daughter was 3 years old, indicating she was born about 1970. This meant that the daughter was Jackie's daughter from her first marriage. A search under the name Rousey brought up death and matching burial records. But the name there was not Jackie, as reported in the newspaper article, but Dawn Marie Rousey.
