Robert's name is given in his obituary as Robert Lee Greene.  He was a widely-known teacher and trader in the Birmingham area.  He lived in Inglenook.

The 1870 census reported his age as 2 years; the 1880 as age 11.  The 1880 census date was 1 June & 1870 was 1 August, making him born June or July 1868.  But his sister Mary Frances was born in February 1868.  Robert's obituary has his birth date as 26 September 1870, which was after the census that reported him 2 years old!  Often in censuses, the age was rounded up to the next birthday.  His obit also reported that he moved to Alabama at age 2, which would be in about 1870.  His next brother was born in Hall County, Georgia, as Robert was, in April 1870.

The family moved between the births of Robert in April 1870 the birth of Thomas Benton in August 1871 in Blount County, Alabama.  The census date on their page of the census was 1 August 1870.  They could have moved some time after 2 August 1870, when Robert was indeed about 2 years old.  The family remembered or someone transmitted the birth date incorrectly.
