  Frederick Ellsworth Dempsey
  December 14, 1928 - October 11, 2008
  
  Frederick Ellsworth Dempsey, 79, of Jacksonville died October 11, 2008.  He was born December 14, 1928 in DeWitt, Arkansas to the late Forrest E. and Mellie Jacobs Dempsey.  He was also preceded in death by a brother Harold Dempsey, and his first wife Rubye Jackson Dempsey; the mother of his children.
  
  Frederick began working in 1948 for the Southwestern States and General Telephone Company in DeWitt, Stuttgart and Jacksonville for a total of 42 years.  He served in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant.  Frederick was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling.  He and his wife, Dorothy, made several trips around the United States and parts of Canada.  He especially enjoyed doing things with his grandchildren; going to their ballgames, taking them fishing and playing games.
  
  He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Cruthis Dempsey; his children, Marilyn K. Carden and husband Jerry of Lonsdale, Beverly J. Stark and husband Doug of Benton, and Thomas E. Dempsey of Cabot; grandchildren, Jeremy W. Stark, Stephanie Diane and Kayla Denise Dempsey.
  
  Funeral Service with military honors will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Bro. Steve Walters officiating.  Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 p.m., Monday at Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund (501)982-2803.  Arrangements are under the direction of Moores Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136.
