The 1909 Houston City directory reported Thomas A Randolph and his brother as check clerks at the Rice Hotel. Their residence address indicates they are living in their parents' home. This directory did not report wives in the household, so their mother Eliza Jane is not reported. Their father is a bartender, which shows up as his occuption in other records.

Tom was convicted twice of crimes and sentence to two years in Huntsville prison. The first was in 1909 for Passing a Forged Instrument. The detailed perosnal informaton on this and another convictoin record report that his birth place was DC.
The 1900 census reported Virginia as his birth palce. His family came from Virginia, but the county where they were living when they migrated to Texas was Page County, in the Shenandoah Valley, in western Virginia.
His WWI draft registration also reported he was born in Stanley, Virginia, which is in Page County. This would seem to have been stated directly by Tom for that record. But then the court system probably got their information also form Tom. The 1910 census reported his birth place, but also that of both parents as Wshington, apparently meaning the nation's federal capital in the District of Columbia.

Tom was pardoned apparently just in time to be enumerated in the census back home in Houston in the 1910 census, with his wife Pearl Schultz.
In the 1910 census, the entries and ages match Thomas and his wife Pearl Schultz, and their son Harry. And as in his 1917 WWI registration, he is reported working on the railroad. But it is puzzling why the enumerator reported that Thoma and both his parents were born in Washington. However, two conviction records of Thomas report his place of birth as DC. Thus maybe it is Washington, DC, that is being reported here. The marriage record for his second record in 1916, however, reports he was born in Page County, Virginia, where his parents lived before moving to Texas.

During this incarceratoin, Tom was still reported in the 1911 Houston City Directory with Pearl, at the Washington Street address reported int eh 1910 census. It would appear that Pearl had reported the couple's information to the directory creator's, not reporting that Tom was not there during that period. Tom's occupation was reported in 1911 as waiter.
But the incarceration record above reported his occupation in 1911 as Railroad Employee. This matches the record in the 1912 Houston City Directory, which detailed his employment as "brakeman, M K & T." This matches the occupation he reported in his 118 WWI draft registration, but with a different railroad.

The directory above was actually labeled 1911-1912, yet there was a new, separate 1912 census in which they were reproted also.
In the 1912 city directory, no wives were reported. But both Thomases are listed at the same addresses as in 1911. We know the first listed is Thomas Jr.
There is a third Thomas Randolph now reported here, whose identity is an enigma. He is listed as Thomas A, and hjis address is one house down from Thomas Jr. But it is noted he rooms there. This may be a hotel or boarding house.
In the 1900 ensus above, Thomas and Eliza's son was reported as Thomas A Randolph. Genealogies tell us both father and son were Thomas Andrew Randolph. Thomas A Randolph here is probably the son of one of the other Randolph famlies we see here, who just coincidentally have the same name, and has now moved out on his own.

Tom was pardoned again on this second sentence, after about 15 months served, on March 20 1913, but in the meantime he had missed the death of hsi wife Pearl in July 1912. His wife's death certificate repoted her place of death not as their home address on Washington Stree, but as 119 Hogan St. This is very similar to Tom's parents' address, 219 Hogan St, which might have been intended. In this case, we can surmise that Pearl and her children were staying with Thomas Sr and Eliza at their home, or that Pearl had grown ill and was being cared for there when she died.

Details for Thomas Jr (Thomas Andrew Randolph) are unclear. The first entry in 1920 for Thomas Randolph appears to be for Thomas Sr, husband of Eliza Jane Keyser. His occupation is unclear from the abbreviation in the directory entry, and Eliza is not reported.
The person reported as Thomas Jr, we would expect to be their son. But a gravestone in Holy Cross Cemetery, where several members of this Randolph family are buried, dates the death of Thomas A Randolph in 1919. The birth date on that stone and memorial is 24 July 1889. Several other records matching this Tho mas A Randolph has that birth date also.
Then there is a 1923 entry with a Thos and E Jane Randolph, followed by an entry for "Thos died November 2, 1922."
