Notes
- I found one Tugmon family genealogy that provides some details about this family. The story in the Notes gives us some good background on Thomas and his family. No sources are provided for the details or this story. This must be from family tradition. This genealogy, while spotty, gave me names and some clues with which to identify some of these individuals in the censuses that I otherwise did not recognize.

Thomas TUGMON
Birth 1837 in Ireland

Story about Thomas as told by Donzella (Donzella step grandpa dad [??]) Bill Felps. Story was told by Donzella to Joretta Tugmon.
Thomas came from Ireland as a boy, lost his parents on ship after he arrived he knew that the Irish came as bond servants. Worked off passage cost. Must [have] come in 1845 or 1846 at 10 years old. 1880 [census] in Texas said they married in 1856 in Ohio.
In Civil war days he had a fight with a soldier while trying to protect a man and was shot in the jaw (he died [of] cancer in jaw). She died [of] heat and starvation. Maggie was a little girl when Thomas and Margret bought their home north of Saint Jo Texas in Montague County.
