In 1910, Columbus is enumerated as the Head of a household with two boarders and a housekeeper, in Nowata, Nowata County, Oklahoma.  He is the census enumerator, identified by his initials, C L.

In 1920, C L is in the State Penitentiary in McAlester, Oklahoma.  I have not discovered why he was in the penitentiary.
