Notes

  • I have the names of this Hill family from my notes of a family conversation at some time.  The place or date was uncertain in family knowledge.  Virginia Lee and Edward P Hill were twins.  In April 2007, I found information on the father and birth dates in the 1930 census:

1930 Federal Census, Stephens County, Oklahoma, 21 April, Hope Township, District 8, page 6B, Hse #114, Fam #119
Hill, Edward P Head  M W 35 married at age 20 OK AR AR Farmer
Hill, Ouida Wife  F W 30 married at age 19 GA GA FL
Hill, Edward P Jr Son  M W 7 OK OK GA
Hill, Virginia L Dau  F W 7 OK OK GA
Turkett, Henry M W 31 TX TX TX Farm Labour
Smart, Holly [transcribed by Ancestry as Hally] M W 20 TX TX TX Farm Labour

I note here that Ouida's mother is reported as born in Florida.  This is the only indication I have seen that Thomas Duncan Terry's wife was born in Florida.  Other sources from family and censuses indicate TD's wife (Ouida's mother) Martha Wiley Wall was born in NC.  Note also that Edward and Ouida's reported ages and the age at marriage cannot match, unless Edward Sr was married for a short time before marrying Ouida.

1940 Federal Census, Stephens County, Oklahoma, 26 April, Richland Township, District 69-24, Page 10A, Hse #171, Rents $5
