Wince was the son of William Thomas “Willie” Jones (1875-1948) and Mary Frances Criswell (1877-1904). We don't know of a middle name, and he always went by the nickname of Cotton.
Wince's mother died only about 15 months after he was born. He was raised by his stepmother Cornie Cochran. His father married Cornelia (Cornie) Cochran in January 1906.
