- Jonathan is the son of Samuel H Norris, brother of Sylvester Norris, and his wife Elizabeth P <Maiden Name Unknown>. We see this family living 2 doors down from Sylvester and Arminda in 1850. In 1860, they are next door to Sylvester and Arminda, and Elizabeth Norris is a widow. She apparently married Lewis Ishmael, who was living with Sylvester's family in 1860, because in 1870, they are still next door to Sylvester, but her name is Elizabeth Ishmael, apparently a widow again, and there is a 7-year-old boy Robert T Ishmael in the household with her and Jonathan Norris.
