    The grave asays he was born 13 Dec 1919, as does directories and other sources.  But the Find a Grave memorial, while providing a photo of the gravestone and referencing the obituary, rpeorts his death as 13 Feb 1919.  I have corrected that on the informatoin below, to reflect the date on the grave.

    Alvin L. McSwain Sr., 89, Cherryville, died June 1, 2009.

    Funeral services will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as deacon.
    Internment will follow in the church cemetery.

    He was retired as an oilier and watchman for Dora Yarn Mill and as a warehouse foreman for Carolina Freight.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Maggie Black McSwain and first wife, Lois Dellinger McSwain.

    Survivors include wife, Marie Summey McSwain of the home; daughters, Martha Hendrick and Margaret Sigmon, both of Cherryville; sons, A.L. McSwain Jr., and David McSwain, both of Cherryville; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
