  Asa Lee (A.L.) Jenkins, 86, of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed away after an extended illness at his home on Friday, May 12th, 2017.  He was born on November 26th, 1930 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to Thomas Asa and Nova Bernice (Grubbs) Jenkins.  He graduated from Anadarko High School in 1948. After graduation he attended Oklahoma Military Academy, Oklahoma City University and Central State (UCO) University.
  
  He lived in the Caddo County area all of his life. He married Joanne Atkins on August 14, 1949 in Midland, Texas.  He owned and operated A.L. Jenkins Home Furnishings in Anadarko from 1961 to 1983.  He was very civic minded and served several terms as president of the Anadarko Rotary Club, he was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship and he served as an Anadarko Town Councilman, was in Chamber of Commerce and the Anadarko Golf and Country Club.
  
  He was president of the Quarterback Club in 1968. In 1992 A.L., ran for the state senate as the first republican candidate from his district since 1932.  He also enjoyed farming and ranching and worked in the Petroleum Land Management.
