Notes
- "I found the promise that our great-grandfather signed saying he would not fight anymore after the siege of Vicksburg - however he did fight until the end of the war, felt so guilty that he named his firstborn son after the general he lied to - General Buell - and the name has continued down through the family - can you imagine! A CSA mounted infantryman naming a firstborn son after a Yankee General!"

Annie died in 1906. A descendant family researcher gives some background from family information.
-----------------------
Buell Stark was working as a cashier in the Bank of Rockmart at the time of Annie's death and was in the process of taking the bank into the federal system. He was also, at one time, the president of the Rockmart Businessman's Association and involved in developing the land around Van Wert where the York family lived (at that time).
So, if Annie died in Dalton, then it was at the home of her mother. At that time, Buell's younger brother Pryor owned the Stark farm and home. However, Buell was forced to take it over, pay off Pryor's debts (Pryor had a problem with the bottle and was an inept manager), and move my grandmother down to the family home at Stark Springs in order to save the farm. He paid off all the debts; went to work at the Bank of Dalton, taking them into the federal system, and all the time practiced law in his spare time while farming and politicing as a member of the Masons and Knights of Pythias, holding state office in both.
He was a turn-of-the-century entrepeneur and politiician while serving on local boards, then as a state representative, then a state senator. My grandmother raised Annie's children before she had two sons of her own, James Ferdinand Stark b. 1919 and Arnold Wood (changed to George Arnold in 1942) Stark b. 1920.
