- Three sources in genealogies have her listed as Emma Ann Cobb, but her name in the 1900 census for Montague County, Texas, has her name as Emaline. It seems more likely that her real name was Emaline, and she commonly went by Emma.

The fact that the family are reported in Fannin County, a short time after her birth is a good indication that she was also born in Fannin, as this genealogy reports. We know that she was in Montague later in life, and it seems the other two genealogies I found that report Montague County as the birth place are wrong.
