    Obituary
J H Cowart, Who Died In Plains, Ga, Buried Here Tuesday

The body of Mr J H Cowart, 66 years old, who died in a hospital at Americus last Sunday morning at an early hour, was brought to Cartersville, reaching here Monday.  It was carried to the home of a daughter, Mrs J J Smith [Olivia Cowart Smith], and from there carried to the Baptist Tabernacle Tuesday morning at ten o'clock for the funeral.

Quite a large number of friends gathered for the last sad rites, the services being conducted in a most impressive manner by Rev George V Crow, pastor of the Tabernacle.  Following these services, the body was borne to Oak Hill cemetery, and there interred in the family lot.  The pallbearers were Messrs T A Jenkins, Lee Smith, F M Smith, Gus Ingram, H L Spence and John Spence.  The arrangements were in charge of G M Jackson & Sons.

Besides his widow, the deceased is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs J J Smith [dau Olivia], of Cartersville; Mrs R L Ingram (dau Lillian) of Canton, Ohio; Mr J G Cowart [son James Glenn] of Columbus; Mr O H Cowart [son Oscar H] of Tampa, Fla; Mrs J W Casey [dau Ophelia] of Dawson, Ga; Mrs Shep Smith [dau Flonnie] of Americus, Ga.

Before moving to Plains some years ago, where he has since been one of the leading farmers, Mr Cowart was a citizen of Bartow county.  He has scores of friends throughout this section who will be grieved to learn of his death, and will extend deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
