Lorenzo Aparicio Ortiz, Sr., age 90 passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Taylor, Texas on August 10, 1920 to the late Margarito and Elidia Ortiz.

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother and two sisters. Lorenzo served in the United States Army during World War II.

He served as a deacon at Primera Iglesia Bautista and Segunda Iglesia Bautista and was also a co-founder of Segunda Iglesia Bautista.

Lorenzo leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Adela M. of Corpus Christi; three sons, Lorenzo (Larry) Ortiz (Mitzi) of Richardson, Texas, Robert Ortiz of Corpus Christi, Texas and Raul D. Ortiz (Mirthala) of Mansfield, Texas; two daughters, Lydia Cancino of Austin, Texas and Linda Lopez of Corpus Christi; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; one brother, Eloy Ortiz (Annie Marie) of Houston, Texas; one sister, Rebecca O. Benavides of Corpus Christi, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alfonso Flores from Primera Iglesia Bautista of San Antonio, Texas officiating. Entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
