Note that this census reports John's middle initial as W.  this is the only place I have found this.  In his WWI registration in 1918, John reported his name as French John Lovin.  His reported birth date of 30 October 1883 matches the date in the 1900 census.  His memorial on Find a Grave also includes a news story from 1916 mentioning his brother Oswell, confirming that this is the same John Lovin.  John signs the registration card with his full name.  The memorial includes a photo of his grave, which has his name as French J Lovin.
