Even though some genealogies report that James' wife Elizabeth died in January 1915, they do not document this, and he is reported as a widower in the 1910 census. James is living with his daugther and her family in the same area of Grayson County, Texas.

James is reported as widowed in the 1910 ccensus. But he was still married to Elizabeth Mildred Lasiter Marvel. They divorced in 1912. Perhaps they were already separated by 1910 and he was ashamed to report that status? They are obviously not together. She did not die until 1915, in Wheeler County, texas.
Jeff Davis, Davis and Marvel family resecher, reports that James and Mildred Elizabeth (or Elizabeth Mildred by some sources) married in 1885, but divorced about 1912.
Fourth Marriage-Elizabeth M. DAVIS married James MARVEL 1885, divorced around 1912.
