Inez Thompson, 88, of Gridley died Sept. 9, 2007, at Live Oak Manor in Live Oak.
Born in Wright City, Okla., she was a longtime Mid-Valley resident. She was a cannery worker for many years. Also, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gridley [Butte County, California].
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Fassler and Pat Shackleford, both of Gridley, and Barbara Wilson of Oroville; a son, J.R. Smith of Davis, Okla.; a brother, Fred Christian of Oak Harbor, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Thompson; a daughter, Deborah Kelsey; a son, Shelby Smith; and two sisters. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society in care of Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel in Gridley.
Services: Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel in Gridley. A graveside service is at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, 2023 Highway 99, Gridley. Pastor Jerry Pinkley of Thermolito Baptist Church will officiate.
