Notes

  • "W.A.J. died about 1856, Mary Ann died 06 Nov 1862, and Isaac died of disease on 17 Jul 1862 while serving with Company E, 26th Arkansas Infantry Regiment, CSA. My great grandmother, Emma [daughter of William and Mary Ann Cook], ended up with all of the land, which totaled around 320 acres. She married my great grandfather, William Floyd Meeks, on 28 Feb 1867."

Before Emma married William John Meeks, she had been married to someone named Ussery.

The is little information about the Cook and Meeks family.  Some genealogies provide what appears to be information from family sources, but have no documentation.  I have not been able to find death and burial documentation for Emmaline Cook Meeks.  The information in the Dalton genealogy matches the grave information on Floyd Meeks.

William's date of birth on his grave is different from the earlier sources reporting birth date or age, which would make his birth more like 1838, instead of 1835 as the gravestone reports.
