Linda VIxie, in touch with Barbara's daughter, reports the following:

    ----------------
Here’s is the marriage record of Roger L. Tripp to Barbara L. Sullivan in Raton, NM, 16 Sep 1957. His birth date and place are given....  (Sullivan is Barbara’s married name; maiden name was Cleburn.)

Barbara’s age isn’t correct, and she wasn’t born in Texas. She was then 19 years old, almost 20, and this is her third marriage. Her daughter (my friend, who I’m doing this work for) was the child of another guy in there between #2 and #3. Mr. Sullivan was already in Germany with the army when my friend was conceived. His name is on her orig. birth cert, but he can’t be her father.

Barbara L Sullivan, age 22 [a comparison of the various sources indicates Barbara was actually 19 then, b abt 1937]
Birth  20 October 1934 [this birthday would make her 22, and 23 the coming month] Dallas, Texas

License #48124 issued and recorded 16 September 1957

There is a marriage license on file for Barbara Tripp dated 14 May 1960.  But it was not executed.  The ceremony part of it is still empty. This document authorizes the marriage of Barbara Togna Lorene Tripp to Julius Nemeth, both of Barberton, Ohio.  They both give the same residence address.  This document reports that Barbara has been divorced twice.  We would expect the most recent of those to be a divorce from Roger Tripp, since that is her last married name.  However, we have the report from her daughter above that she had been married twice before marrying Roger.

This document is wrong in stating that she was twice divorced.  It may have been three times.  This is also indicated in the alternative name given with the index for this record, Barbara Cleburn.  The birth date here is a little different from that given on her license for marriage to Roger Tripp.  That earlier one gave the birth date as 20 October 1934, and this one says 28 October 1934.  Her age is reported as age 26 in 1960, the same as she reported in 1957.  The age on this certificate matches the birth date given, even if the specific day is different.

Tripp family researcher Linda Vixie reports that Barbara misrepresented here age a lot.

"Barbara misrepresents her age a lot,  in the many documents we’ve found on her.  She has a sad history and was quite the wild child throughout her short life.  This is only a fraction of the story.  She spent most of her life in prison.  I’ve learned not to be surprised by anything we find on her, but I always still am."

Note that on both these marriage licenses, Barbara's birth place is reported as Dallas, Texas.

    Father Charles A Cleburn
    Mother Elsa Youngren
She was twice previously married and twice divorced
    Spouse's Name Julius Nemeth
Spouse Birth Date 5 Apr 1925
Residence 3461 Akronview Dr, Barberton, Summit County, Ohio
    Spouse Father's Name Louis Nemeth
    Spouse Mother's Name Vilma Resnaki
He was once previously married, now a widower
License issued 14 May 1960 Summit County, Ohio
Certificate of solemnization unfilled, no filing date.

Her name in this license is Barbara Togna Lorene Tripp.  The Lorene looks like it could be a middle name, but the sequence is like it is a married name.  Togna, however, could also be a middle name, maybe a surname somewhere in her mother’s line?  Her father was Charles A Cleburn, her mother Elsa Youngren.  Linda Vixie comments that Togna was an alias that Barbara liked and used sometimes.

Also, this license states that she has been married twice and divorced twice, before this license in 1960.  That includes the Tripp license.  So she has lowered the number of marriages in this declaration, if earlier information was correct that she had already been married twice when she married Roger Tripp at age 19. Or could her daughter have got confused about when the various marriages were?

Linda Vixie found out from Nemeth family members that Barbara had been serving as a nanny for Julius Nemeth's daughters after this wife died.  They were planning to get married, but then Julius called it off.

"Barbara was the nanny for several girls in a widower’s household. I’ve talked to them, and they remember her, but their father kicked her out before the marriage occurred. They didn’t know they went as far as a license."

I have found some more documents for Barbara, and her parents with her in the 1940 Texas census.  This reports her born in Colorado.  Barbara may have actually had a legitimate erroneous memory and thought she was born in Texas, since she was only two in this census.  She would not have remembered Colorado before her family moved to Texas.

Barbara's age of two in the 1940 census would correlate with her age as 19 in 1957 when she married Roger Lee Tripp.  Her grave has the birth year as 1937.  Updated info for her memorial on Find a Grave was submitted and the updated memorial is included here.

There is a second memorial for a Barbara L Cleburne who matches our Barbara Lorene Cleburn, but the burial is in another cemetery.  This memorial has no dates in the primary data fields, but with a note on the burial date from Colorado Springs city burial records.  There is no photo of a grave.  The date of burial matches the year of burial reported in the above memorial.

It appears this memorial was posted with the burial information from a death certificate or similar record from Colorado Springs, when the actual burial occurred in the Beulah Cemetery at Pueblo.  This could have been because, like may other cases I have seen, the coroner or physician was told one cemetery, but that place was uncertain or the burial place was changed after removal for preparation.

But the Evergreen Cemetery burial registry has no Cleburn listed in the records.  This seems to corroborate our supposition that this memorial was entered from a list based on the physician's report.  No Colorado death record has been found.
