• In the enumeration of the family of Murphy C Strange in 1900, there isno listing for a child matching Luther Carl, who should be 8 years oldin that census.  He reappears in the 1910 census.

  In the 1920 census, I found Luther Carl listed as Carl, still singleand his widowed mother was living with him on Ferry Road in JeffersonCounty, Tennessee.

  Next door is his brother William, wife Edith and their children.Three doors down from William and Edie is the family of Carl's futurewife, Daisy Phillips.  Next door to them, 2 doors away from WilliamStrange, is Daisy's older brother Perry and his new wife Lennie.
  
  I see that in this census, Mary is said to be age 65.  This wouldyield a birth year of 1855.  But a family genealogy by Claude V Hallreports her actual birth date as 23 August 1859.  This would mean shewas only 61 years old.
  
  Claude V Hall reports on the Strange family in his genealogy.Claude's wife was Ina Bernice Strange, daughter of Luther CarlStrange.  Claude reports that Bernice's father went by the name Carl,which we have seen in the later censuses.  Carl died of pancreaticcancer.
