Notes

  • Several genealogies of different lineages that include the Terryfamily include this record as referring to William Terry b 1849-50,and his arrival form England into the colony of Virginia.  I have seenno discussion or other substantiation to establish that this is thecorrect William Terry.  I am including this record in courtesy ofthose who may know more about this era of the Terry line than I do atthis time, and for the historical reference.

Our Terry family (William Barney of South Carolina, son of LewisTerry) have the family tradition that they came form Ireland, so thismay not be the correct Terry antecedent.  Or there may be an earlierconnection to Ireland, as could quite likely be the case.  We do knowour Terrys were in the Virginia and the Carolinas before the AmericanRevolution.

While this record reports arrival in 1679, another arrival record fora William Terry in Virginia is dated 1679.  Alternative birth datesfor William are 1635 and 1649-50.
