Notes
- "Lucy Hood's parents were James Monroe Hood & Mary Jane Conway. Lucy was the sister to my ancestor Almeda Texas Hood Meredith."
-- Steven Meredith, email to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 4 October 2010
I have not found definite confirmation of Lucy's middle name, but believe it is Judson, like her daughter, whom she naemd Lucy Judson Thomas. One other genealogy has made this same surmise, while a few have her name as Lucy Jane, for which there is also no evidence presented.

Later that year, Lucy got married to Peter Thomas. who was born in the Prussian Empire. Peter's family was one of the dozens of shiploads of immigrants invited to settle in the Hill Country of Texas.
I first got this marriage information from Donna Thomas Modier, a descedant, then some time later was able to find the marriage record.

This death certificate originally had the the date of death as "June 25, 1918." This is in the same handwriting and pen as most of the fields on the certificate. However, there is what appears to be a writeover in the new hand and heavier pen of the attending physician's certificate, making a 6 of the 5, to read June 26, 1918. This is the date on ther gravestone. Family Search originally transcribed the date as 26 June, but now says 28 June. The Texas Death Index also reports her death as 26 June 1918.
