In 1920, Martha is enumerated under the name of Ned, which must be her nickname. In 1920 two unmarried sons are still living in the household of Martha and her husband William Joseph Terry. Their widowed daughter Agnes Beavers is also in their home, with her daughter Lillian, age 5.

In 1928, Martha lost her husband. They had lived their whole lives in Murray County, Georgia. In 1930 she is living with her unmarried son Dock, who also has what appears to be a sister-in-law and her daughter (niece to Dock).
Martha's name in the 1920 and 1930 censuses was confusing and hard to read. I could not make sense of it at first. In my research, this was the first indication I had found of Martha's nickname Ned. I later found the same name for her in the 1920 census, as reported above. This nickname probably comes from her middle name Oneida.
